Important Advisory on Fraudulent Telephone Calls

Back | Print

Indian nationals in North Italy are cautioned about fraudulent telephone calls reflecting the Consulate telephone numbers (made from spoofed numbers) or fraudulent emails sent from forged sender addresses where the caller tries to extort money on the pretext of some immigration related matter.

The fraudsters claim to be officials of the Indian Consulate in Milan or from Government of India. Usual claims are of wrong immigration data entry, passport entry etc and is made to Indian students studying at Italian Universities. Please note that the Consulate is not conducting any such verification. Neither is money ever asked to be paid over phone calls or through emails. You are requested NOT to engage with such callers or share your personal details or transfer any money or make any payment over such phone calls or emails. Such instances should be reported to the Consulate immediately by sending an email to cons3.milan@mea.gov.in.

We encourage you to widely circulate this advisory to Indian nationals living in North Italy.
