Consul General Mr Lavanya Kumar met the representatives of the vibrant #Yoga community in Milan on 09 October. Along with Consulate officials, he discussed preparations for the International Day of Yoga-2025.
Consulate organised a consular camp on 06 October in Bolzano. During this camp, various consular services including reissue and surrender of passports, issuance of OCI cards, and other miscellaneous services were extended to the members of the Indian diaspora.
Consul General Mr. Lavanya Kumar visited the office of Assolombarda in Milan on 04th October and met with Mr. Pietro Sala, Director of Institutional Affairs and International Relations Department and other officials.
Consul General Mr Lavanya Kumar paid a courtesy call on Ms Milvia Drazza, Head of the Immigration Police at Linate airport, Milan on 03 October.
Gandhi Jayanti celebrations in Turin on 02 October: Deputy Mayor of Turin Ms Michela Favaro, consulate officials and diaspora members participated in the event.
On the 155th birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, tributes were paid to the Gandhi ji Statue in Campo Marzo, via Roma, Vicenza by the Consulate officials along with Indian community and local authorities. Mr. Giovanni Selmo, Counselor for Peace and International Cooperation, Municipal of Vicenza and Vice Consul Shyam Kumar Saha from the Consulate attended the event.
Gandhi Jayanti was celebrated with great enthusiasm in San Donato, a commune in the Metropolitan city of Milan, on 02 October. Members of Indian diaspora, officials of San Donato commune and Consulate officials participated in the event. Consul General Shri Lavanya Kumar, Municipal Councillor Mr Massimiliano Mistretta and the diaspora members paid homage to Mahatma Gandhi. The event concluded with singing of Gandhi ji’s favorite bhajans and hymns.
Prof Alessandro Biamonti, Rector’s Delegate of Politechnico of Milano for relations with India met Consul General Lavanya Kumar on 01 October. They discussed possibilities of academic exchange programs between Indian universities and Politechnico of Milano.
Consul General Shri Lavanya Kumar paid a courtesy call on the Consul General of Philippines Mr Elmer Cato at the latter’s office on 30 September. They discussed various issues related to the efforts being made by their respective Consulates to reach out to their diaspora.
Consul General Shri Lavanya Kumar met Ms. Marina Andreotti, Immigration Head in Milan on 23 September. The Consul General discussed various issues related to Indian nationals and students including expediting their stay and residency permits and thanked the immigration department for the assistance being extended in this regard.
Consul General Shri Lavanya Kumar administered the “Swachhata Pledge” to officials of the Consulate as part of “Swachhata Hi Seva 2024” campaign. Consul General reiterated the importance of the campaign and urged all officials to devote two hours a week to voluntarily work for cleanliness effort.
‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' campaign was launched by PM Modi on World Environment Day. This campaign aims to enhance environmental protection and foster a sustainable future. As part of this initiative, Consulate officials planted saplings on 17 September at Villaggio Hare Krishna in Chignolo d’ Isola.
Hindi Diwas was celebrated with great enthusiasm at the Consulate General of India, Milan. Consulate officials, local Hindi teachers and students participated in this program.
The Indian Malayalee Cultural Association of Milan celebrated Onam festival on 15 September. Various cultural programs organized on this occasion reflected the vibrant culture of Kerala. Consul General Lavanya Kumar and other officials of the Consulate participated in the event. These celebrations concluded with Onam Sadhya, a traditional feast with a variety of dishes blending sweet, sour, spicy, and savory flavors.
Ambassador Vani Rao & Consul General in Milan, Lavanya Kumar had a vibrant interaction in Milan with Indian-Italian companies & business chambers engaged in India-Italy commercial & economic collaboration.
